Slate articles

The first two articles were interesting to me with their connection between what they referred to as criticism versus the idea of 'fandom'. I never really considered that in order to write about things like television, one must be generally interested in the topic or show. I also thought it was interesting how fans will usually seek out a critic who holds the same beliefs and opinions that they do. This seems a lot like people's biases towards news channels. They're not looking for the best/ most neutral channel; they're looking for a channel that leans the way that they lean.

The hyperlinks I chose were both about specific television shows. The first one took me to an article written by Sepinwall about the Sopranos. I appreciated this article because it was interesting to see an article written BY him after reading two articles ABOUT him. The other hyperlink took me to another critic's article about the show Lost. While I didn't know much about the article because I have not seen that far into the series (the article was about season 6, whereas I have only watched until season 3), I found the critic's frustration amusing, as frustration from the plot is exactly why I stopped watching the show.
